In an exciting announcement during Netflix’s Geeked Week celebrations, fans of The Witcher franchise were delighted to learn that iconic monster hunter Geralt of Rivia will return to screens in the new animated film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, the iconic monster hunter will return to the big screen. While fans eagerly await the continuation of Geralt’s adventures in the series, this upcoming animated movie promises to tide them over until late 2024.

A familiar voice will once again bring Geralt to life as Doug Cockle, best known for his portrayal of the character in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher games, lends his talents to the animated interpretation. Cockle’s distinctive portrayal of Geralt has left an indelible mark on the character, making his return a cause for excitement for fans who have followed the White Wolf’s journey throughout the video game trilogy.
The movie is being developed by Studio Mir, known for its work on acclaimed franchises such as Voltron: Legendary Defender and Legend of Korra. The studio previously collaborated with Netflix on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf with Netflix. This time, Studio Mir will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Little Sacrifice and take Geralt on a new adventure called Sirens of the Deep.
The story begins as Geralt finds himself forced to collaborate with allies both familiar and new when a seemingly routine hunting contract in a seaside village turns into a potential war between humanity and the merpeople who inhabit the nearby waters. The movie will blend elements from various Witcher adaptations to create a rich and immersive experience for fans.
Adding to the excitement, the animated film will see the return of live-action stars Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey, reprising their roles as Yennefer of Vengerberg and the bard Jaskier, respectively. However, for a change, Geralt will not be portrayed by a new face, Doug Cockle’s iconic voice will be retained, ensuring continuity with the beloved character.
